Telescopes, a 501(c)3, was founded in 2021 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, following the destruction, sadness and frustration that gripped our beautiful city after the murder of George Floyd. We witnessed first-hand the hopelessness in the eyes of the Youth within our diverse communities and decided: we must do something.
Knowing that there exists huge social, economic and racial barriers to quality education and access to career and life services for the underserved BIPOC youth within our communities, we decided to take a stand. Telescopes was founded to be a beacon of light, an instrument to help the future leaders of tomorrow…inspiring them to see above and beyond their current circumstances in order to Believe in, Create, and Achieve a more equitable and prosperous future for themselves, their families, and our communities.
The Mission of Telescopes is: To bridge the socio-economic gap by investing in and providing resources, training, support and mentorship to underserved Youth in our Community.
We aim to achieve these goals through programs focused on financial literacy, entrepreneurship and leadership, mental health and wellness, emerging technologies, and art and design. Together we can eliminate barriers to opportunity through the power of learning, hard work and community. So please join us and let’s show our Youth that we believe in them and they indeed can and will rise …“Above and Beyond.”
